Tout se passe dans une période très lointaine quand la société était conduite par des personnes fortes, riches et puissantes. Sept barons rivaux appelés les Badlands conduisent le pays et contrôlent absolument tout, en commençant avec les ressources de la région et finissant par la population qui doit respecter des règles strictes. Les personnes qui assurent la protection sont appelés Clippers et profitent d'un statut et mode de vie que la population peut seulement rêver. Ces derniers sont prêts à mourir pour les désirs de leur barons. Notre protagoniste va bientôt découvrir son véritable but dans la vie.
